About dentures
What is a dental prosthetist?
A dental prosthetist is a registered dental practitioner who specialises in designing, making, fitting and repairing dentures and mouthguards. You can see a dental prosthetist directly. No referral from a dentist is needed.
What types of dentures do you make?
We make full (complete) dentures, acrylic and cast-metal partial dentures, and implant retained dentures. We also repair and reline existing dentures and make custom-fitted sports mouthguards. Everything is made on site in our Strathfield laboratory.
How do I know if I need a new denture or just a reline?
If your denture is loose but otherwise in good condition, a reline that refits the base to your gums may be all you need. If the teeth are badly worn, the base is cracked or the fit has changed significantly, a new denture is usually the better long-term option. We assess this at your free consultation.
Are your dentures made in Australia?
Yes. Every denture is designed and manufactured on site in our Strathfield clinic using premium materials and advanced technology.
Appointments and costs
Is the first consultation really free?
Yes. Your initial consultation and oral examination are complimentary. We discuss your needs, examine your mouth, explain the options and provide a written quote and consent form before any treatment begins.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us by phone on 02 8386 0143.
Can I claim on my health fund?
Yes. Our clinic is equipped with HICAPS, so claims from all health funds are processed electronically on the spot after your treatment. You only pay the gap and do not need to visit your fund or post a claim.
Do you accept government vouchers?
Yes. We accept NSW Health (OHFFSS) vouchers and welcome patients from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
How long does it take to make a new denture?
It depends on the type of denture and your individual needs. Most new dentures involve several appointments over a few weeks for impressions, try-ins and the final fitting. We will give you a clear timeline at your consultation.
Care and repairs
Can you repair my denture on the same day?
In most cases, yes. Because we have an on-site laboratory, repairs and relines are usually available for same-day pick-up. Please call us first so we can set aside laboratory time.
How should I care for my dentures?
Clean your denture daily with a soft brush and a denture cleaner rather than toothpaste, rinse after meals, and keep it moist when not in your mouth. Avoid hot water, which can warp the denture, and never use household glue for repairs. Partial dentures should be removed at night to keep your mouth healthy.
How often should my dentures be checked?
We recommend a check-up at least every two years, or sooner if your denture feels loose or uncomfortable. Natural bone and tissue changes occur over time, and regular checks keep your denture fitting well and your mouth healthy.
Do you make mouthguards?
Yes. We make custom-fitted mouthguards from an impression of your teeth for sport and for protection against grinding. They fit far more securely and comfortably than boil-and-bite guards.
